Sep 2019 | Press Release - New Desuperheater with Segmented Disc Valve Controls Nozzle by Nozzle

Steam is not only a supplier of energy, but is also an important source of energy for a wide variety of processes for all operators of thermal systems such as producers of sugar or paper. Using desuperheaters, it is easy to control the pressure and temperature of the steam and condition overheated steam for the particular consumer in the process.

Desuperheaters have proven effective for injecting cooling water or condensate into overheated steam. Producing slightly overheated steam that is 3-20 K above the saturated steam temperature to subsequently provide consumers with steam with an optimal heat transfer coefficient is a specialized art. Schubert & Salzer has developed a completely new kind of desuperheater by integrating a segmented disc valve with four injection nozzles on the lance. This enables the outstanding advantages of this valve technology to be used for the finely tuned regulation of steam networks. [...]

Apr 2019 | Robust ball sector valve with a precise control actuator

A high control precision requires an almost backlash-free transmission of the actuating forces to the valve seat. This is the only possibility for the set point to correlate with the opening angle of the valve and the resulting volume flow. The electrical actuator, Type S1500, is able to break a 90° rotary movement down into a maximum of 1,500 steps and also reduces the hysteresis to under 0.15%. A compact actuator transfers the actuating rotation to the valve seat – the ball sector – with almost no backlash.

By combining the precise motor actuator and the robust ball sector valve, Schubert & Salzer has succeeded in manufacturing an accurate and reliable control valve for large volume flows with an enormous rangeability. The set point can either be 4 – 20 mA or 0 – 10 V according to choice and a position feedback is provided via 4 - 20 mA. The valve assembly that comprises the actuator and the ball sector valve is IP67 rated and designed for ambient temperatures of between – 40°C and + 80°C. The ball sector valve in its wafer design is available in sizes from DN 25 up to DN 250 and for a nominal pressure of up to PN 40 for flanges that are conform with DIN EN 1092-1. The actuating time for a 90° rotary movement is approx. 20 seconds and the operating time with an OT of 100 % leaves nothing to be desired. Of course, an emergency manual override is also available.

Mar 2019 | Balanced trim design pushes the application boundaries

It was possible to integrate the ingenious and space saving design in the head section of the valve. Due to the differential pressure, assisting the actuator, it is possible to reduce the actuating force by approx. 97%. This means that the especially designed Type 7010 angle seat valves and the Type 7210 angle seat motorised control valves are a real alternative when it comes to very high differential pressures with much smaller actuators.

The balanced trim design is available for stainless steel angle seat valves in size DN32 up to DN80. With the selection of temperature-resistant sealing materials, it could easily be used in steam applications up to 220°C, for example.

May 2018 | To make innovative valve technology come alive!

… is the motto of our new ultra-modern customer training centre at our premises in Ingolstadt. The new building already shines thanks to its striking architecture. The interior not only impresses with the latest presentation and media technology; our global customers and partners can also experience a fully-functional valve test bench here. Being pressurised at the heart of the training centre by four high-pressure centrifugal pumps, water is used as a testing medium and is transported through the pipelines and test specimens. The centre also boasts a gas pressure regulating system, which compares various Schubert & Salzer pressure regulators in operation, as well as many product exhibits. By the way, our re-designed company bistro will ensure your physical well-being during an informative training day.
Experience innovative valve technology at the Ingolstadt location and learn more about the utilisation opportunities for your particular application. We look forward to seeing you!
