Apr 2021 | New, compact sliding gate valve with diaphragm actuator

Our developers said to themselves, "It could be even more compact". The result: A sliding gate valve (GS) with impressively reduced dimensions and weight – type 8028. Due to the new 80-mm diaphragm actuator, the type 8028 GS1, for example in DN100, with an installation length of just 487 mm, is another 50 mm shorter than the already compact GS valve with piston actuator. In terms of control accuracy, the GS type 8028 is in no way inferior to its big brother, the type 8021, and impresses with a rangeability of 80:1. For the high control quality of the GS valves, their very good response behaviour is particularly decisive. Very short reaction times at the highest resolution are achieved due to small actuator travels, low moving loads and low actuation forces. With the new type 8028 valve, modern plant installations designed with increasingly smaller dimensions also enjoy the benefits of sliding gate technology.

Jan 2021 | Adjustable sliding gate orifice - Type 8090

The adjustable sliding gate orifice type 8090 uses almost the entire performance of the GS1/GS3 proven GS valve series and is suitable for precise and continuous adjustment of a defined flow. It can be adjusted and secured manually in the installed state during operation. Stops in the end positions and a high-resolution position indicator enable reproducible setting. Among other things, the orifice facilitates the hydraulic adjustment of cooling systems, e.g. when commissioning large engines in CHPs and on ships.

Nov 2020 | Press Release - Compact manifold for cooling and lubrication of the shaft seal on centrifugal pumps

Centrifugal pumps depend on cooling and lubrication to operate efficiently, reliably and with a long service life. The solutions commonly used for this purpose in the industry are mostly constructions made of a lot of different components. These are often not exactly matched to each other and also require a lot of space and installation effort.

Schubert & Salzer Control Systems has now developed an out-of-the-box solution for this specific application. In this case, the cooling and lubrication of the shaft seals in centrifugal pumps with the operating fluid is controlled via a compact manifold. The adjustable 7010 angle-seat shut-off valve integrated into the block allows a flow rate of 10 to 50 l / h to be set.

When the pump is started, the pneumatic valve opens simultaneously, so that cooling and lubrication are ensured immediately. The liquid sensor integrated in the manifold permanetly checks that coolant always flows when the pump is running. If there is no cooling the pump is switched off to prevent damage to the shaft seal and to prevent it from getting stuck. The switch-off and switch-on functions can be carried out via the pump control or can be taken over by a PLC.

Schubert & Salzer Control Systems thus offers an efficient out-of-the-box solution for the cooling and lubrication of shaft seals in centrifugal pumps. As a complete solution, the new system is not only more compact than the solutions commonly used in industry, but also significantly reduces installation and maintenance costs.
The manifold is suitable for all centrifugal pumps within the specified performance range. In addition, it can be extended with e.g. manometer connections, pressure and temperature sensors. Further options and intelligent, specific, modular solutions are also possible.

May 2020 | KS2 – The next generation of the ball sector valve

  • Extended application limits between -40°F and 428°F
  • Also suitable for use with steam applications
  • Much easier to mount/remove
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Additional nominal widths of 2 1/2" and 5" available
  • All known benefits of the previous KS1 design

With the redesigned KS2 ball sector valve, we have especially succeeded in extending the warranted application limits of this valve series as far as the application temperatures are concerned. The redesigned shaft seal and seat area now enable it to be used within a temperature range of between -40°F and 428°F, so that steam applications are now possible. Not only do the shaft seal that is held by a circlip make mounting and removal easier, this is also due to the screwed retaining and supporting ring on the seat area. Not only that: the series has also been extended by the nominal widths 2 1/2" and 5" in addition to a dihedron shaft connection.
